As the breadwinner for my family, the choice to return to work after my babies were born was based around both my own wellbeing and financial stability. After having 4 kids in 6 years, I have learned about how important it was for me to go back to work.
While I loved my time at home during maternity leave, I just knew that staying at home was not the right choice. After my first, Audrey, was born 6 years ago, my life was forever changed. Much of my maternity leave was spent learning how to feed and care for her, and on my physical and emotional recovery. As the 12 week mark approached, I was feeling excited to go back to work, and yet, guilt about leaving my girl. The first 2 weeks of my return were filled with tears as I pumped breastmilk and adjusted to my new "normal." Eventually, it got easier. I was fulfilled with my work- It made me feel like myself!
There is NO right choice when it comes to returning to work. For me, it helped to have a routine, and enjoy the time I had with the kids when I was home. And I became a better worker! I was able to finish on time, because I was motivated to get home to see my babies.
How did you decide what was best for you??
